Equal opportunity is the bedrock of American democracy, and our diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths. But for too many, the American Dream remains out of reach. Entrenched disparities in our laws and public policies, and in our public and private institutions, have often denied that equal opportunity to individuals and communities. We support organizations that help fight against racism and inequality.
Food insecurity is a racial equity problem. An estimated 29 million adults – and at least 8 million children in the U.S. – are struggling with food insecurity. Because of pervasive systemic racism and inequality in our economy, the burdens of this economic crisis are hitting communities of color and other underserved families hardest. We support organizations that help fight against the tide of hunger through actions that put nutritious food on the tables of millions of people.
The One Coffee Together Campaign is an social campaign that brings coffee-related companies together in the fight against racial injustice and hunger. #OneCoffeeTogether was founded by J. Elias Norwood (also known as electronic music artist DJ Noropolis) in 2020 and launched in 2021. He is the Founder of the first pledge partner, the Appomattox Coffee Company.
The mission of this campaign is near and dear to his heart, having been on the receiving end of racism throughout his life. We are not a non-profit organization. We do not receive donations. We gets commitments from coffee-related businesses to donate 1% or more of their profits to reputable organizations (of their choice) to the two causes we are focused on (per above). Ultimately, our goal is to help financially boost efforts against racism and hunger across the United States through this mission. We believe we can make a difference.

We believe in liberty and justice for all. We believe in racial equality and we believe that no one should go hungry. We know the struggle is real for far too many. In this belief, we will take action to donate 1% or more of our profits to the reputable organizations of our choice, those which fight against racial inequality and/or those who help feed the hungry. We will commit to 1% for the next 365 days of our commencement date. We are #OneCoffeeTogether.
This pledge is valid for 365 days after commencement. It is nonbinding.
We have a responsibility to be faithful to our pledge and to maintain integrity and openness in our financial practices. Each member of our campaign should keep accurate records and provide financial transparency of their donations to the organizations of their choice that focus on racial equality and/or hunger. Donations can be done on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis. Whatever makes sense for the business. #OneCoffeeTogether does not maintain financial records of it's partners. This campaign is on the 'honor system'. If it is discovered that a member has not kept true to their #OneCoffeeTogether pledge, they will be removed from our campaign. A business can remove themselves from this campaign for any reason at anytime. Pledges are yearly commitments and are updated or removed at the yearly anniversary date of a company's pledge.
No business is required by law to donate their revenues, but it is part of a moral obligation for businesses to help those who are less fortunate. This campaign was created to focus a spotlight on racial inequality + hunger, with coffee companies coming together in the effort to fight racism and hunger.
The pledge is a nonbinding commitment.
